How can that be true?
We're not promising to keep your account alive forever. We built it so you don't need us to.
Your files don't sit on our servers. They go to a storage network where the space is bought once, up front, rather than rented by the month — so there's no bill anyone has to keep paying. The name is a public record as well, not a row in our database, so you can hand it to somebody else and it can be looked up without asking us. We pay the network fees when you create it, and we look after the name until you'd rather look after it yourself.
Your .persist name also gets a matching ArNS undername, managed under Persist’s shared name. You can use it through ar.io gateways. Your other addresses are: yourname.persist.click works in any browser and comes from us. yourname.persist is the same folder with nothing of ours in the way; it opens in Wildroot or any Handshake-aware browser. Its ownership record is independent of Persist; resolving it still depends on the naming infrastructure.
Once your files are stored we can't edit them or take them down. Not "we won't" — we can't. And once the name is in your hands, nobody moves it but you.
